Business Link launches online support for farmers
Release date: 07 Mar 2010
Farmers are now among the business owners who can access dedicated support from Business Link, following the launch of a farming section on the BusinessLink.gov.uk website.

The new guidance on the site includes advice for farmers on securing funding, managing their operations and complying with legislation.

Content is divided into six sub-sections:

running your farm business
funding, schemes and grants
protecting farm environments
livestock
crops, horticulture and plant health
organic farming.

The farming section of the website also brings together 86 guides from several government departments, including the Environment Agency, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.
According to Business Link, more information will be added to the website over the next few weeks - including guidance on selling produce in farm shops and markets, trading internationally and internal market schemes.
'The new farming guide has been developed by consulting government departments and agencies, with input from farmers themselves,' said Businesslink.gov.uk farming theme leader, Justin Lucas. 'It brings together information that was previously scattered across different government departments and agencies.
'For the very first time, farming professionals will be able to access the information and guidance from across government they need on one website, saving them time and money,' he added.
